This is a 4x 180g heavyweight Vinyl / book. Really a super nice product! This product also includes a download code to download the 5.1. tracks listed under the box set.
The Vinyl as such is not a limited product however we do set these up with a limited quantity and only demand is higher we will set up a new run. Often this doesn’t happen with such Vinyl books.

Lee: Fans have asked about a complete box set which would include all options. Why has this not been made available?

SME: We did not create a boxset including all products as this would have been super super expensive.

Lee: JMJ fans are a funny bunch – if you would have a created a box set with everything in – I know fans who would have purchased it – myself included. Your outlay / revenue stream could be protected by making it a very limited edition – much like the Deluxe Electronica Box set which cost around £180 including the shipping. Fans would snap it up!

SME: I understand about the box, but unfortunately and you will well remember the whole D2C* box in different parts was quite a tricky procedure with many fans unhappy about the process. Hence we decided to go for a more simple offer that fans can get everywhere from retailers like Amazon or FNAC, plus not everyone is a super fan and willing to pay that much money so we decided to split the box and Vinyl.

*For those who don’t know – D2C means “Direct to Consumer”

Lee: You say the “box set” is limited – can you tell me how many? Any the same with the vinyl – limited to how many on the first run?

SME: We have the box limited to 4000 Units Globally and the Vinyl Box to 3500 Units for the first production run.

Lee: We’ve had members ask about the source of the tracks – are they re-recordings by JMJ and his team or are they lifted from previous SME releases?

SME: JMJ was as always super involved in the process. He delivered the master to Sony himself, so none of the tracks were just lifted from systems by Sony. It’s all his doing. Some of the tracks had to be altered to make them fit the product. Different versions were used on some of the tracks also. iTunes is a good place to compare, but I have asked Louis if we can get this info up on JMJs website track by track.

Lee: Do you have any pre-visual images of the products that you can pass on – I know fans are wanting to see what they are buying!

SME: We will have the full product visuals by Wednesday and they will appear everywhere from thereon. JMJs designer was just so busy getting all the products ready in time for production that it wasn’t possible to get these earlier.

Lee: Some fans have been speculating that some tracks may be “live” versions from the Electronica Tour. Personally I don’t believe this will be true – even with the tracks like “Coachella Opening” and “Herbalizer” I would assume these would be studio versions of these tracks.

SME: None of the tracks are live versions.

  1. I am confused. The original Planet Jarre announcement listed 4 discs. All of the these options show only 2 discs. Where are the other 2 discs?

    1. The cassettes are listed as “discs”. The disc will have extra-lengths to fit in all of the music and exceed the 74-minute limit the original manufacturer (Sony) gave us.

  2. Still would like to know if the “retouched” etc. versions are the NEW versions played on the Electronica tour. I really hope it will be the new Zoolookologie version or the Equinoxe version mixed with glory.
